Global Warming or Climate Change: Whatever you want to call it, is happening all around the world. But there are still people who think its not happening - They will only believe when something in their immediate area is impacted, and even then, there will be excuses made. Too many people seem to be hardwired against change, of any kind.

Humans must change to evolve and this climate shift is a major ongoing event that will affect everyone. But, there are other changes that are happening world-wide. How we, as the human species, address these changes will affect our continuing survival on Earth. Otherwise, accepting climate changes and global warming will no longer be an issue.

We all must make changes to how we live our daily lives - The products we use in our homes, business, and for fun are impacting the quality of our air, water, and seas - Even if all the countries in the world worked together to halt the current pollutions right now, its doubtful the damage could be reversed. And the cost of the cleanup would bankrupt the world.

Maybe those who refuse to change have an easier life because they can say with all conviction that its "not their problem" and can go on with their blinded lives. Those people who religiously recycle think they too are "doing their part" but the reality is that unless you have zero weekly garbage, you aren't. We must use 100% biodegradable materials in everything that we use outside of those products that can be recycled.

Here in the USA, the cost of fuel is slowly destroying the economy. America used to be a country of inventors and innovators - We have coasted along the oil route too long - We must find another way, be it in alternative fuels or other ways to power vehicles. We also need to change how vehicles are made and use carbon fiber technology, since its a way to make vehicles light weight, structurally strong, and long lasting.

Now more than ever, we all must share research to solve various problems around the globe and halt the damage to essential physical processes. Such as the massive pollution of the oceans, which contains more than the sea creatures, it also produces 70% of Earth's oxygen. Right now, in many different places around the globe, large areas of the water are dead. The causes are numerous but it can be traced back to human-caused pollution. Nature did not invent herbicides or combine chemicals that end up making a toxic soup that kills everything - Humanity did. So remember, if the ocean dies, that breath you just took might be your last.

Change, its what we all must do and you can make it happen by taking the first step. Educate yourself and make the effort to live green.

The Meltdown!

At the end of each summer, the sea ice cover reaches its minimum extent and the ice that remains is called the perennial ice cover, which consists mainly of thick multi-year ice floes. The area of the perennial ice has been steadily decreasing since the satellite record began in 1979, at a rate of about 10% per decade. But the 2007 minimum, reached around Sept. 14, is far below the previous record made in 2005 and is about 38% lower than the climatological average. This data visualization shows the annual sea ice minimum from 1979 through 2007.

A new NASA study has found that in 2005 the Arctic replaced very little of the thick sea ice it normally loses and replenishes each year. Replenishment of this thick, perennial sea ice each year is essential to the maintenance and stability of the Arctic summer ice cover.

Coastal Flooding

1 meter East coast USA
1 meter South East coast USA
1 meter South coast USA

The pictures above indicate the amount of land that will flood if the sea level rises just 1 meter. If you are curious about your area, please visit http://flood.firetree.net/ - You will be amazed at just how many areas will be affected. Obviously, the sea level has not risen enough to cause any damage, yet, but if the various ice packs continue their rapid melt, as they have been, this information might be of greater use.
